If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: read a lot and write a lot.” –Stephen King

Top Challenges Faced By Newbie Content Writers

While freelancing can fetch volumes of sovereignty to content writers, it can also introduce a couple of challenges that can easily scare new content writers away.

If you’ve just stepped into the shoes of a freelance content writing, you need to be familiar of these challenges. But don’t worry, there are ways through which, you can get shed of them pretty soon.

1.Unearthing Clients and Writing Gigs:

Finding work as a freelancer can be incredibly challenging, so much so, that a majority of freelance content writers have rated this as the number one problem faced by new freelance content writers.

Wanna know why? It’s because a lot of freelance content writers jump aboard the freelancing train without thoroughly researching the paths to find work.

2.Extensive Competition:

There’s fierce competition among freelance content writers on approximately every platform. What you plan on offering for $150, you’ll find someone else offering for $100 or maybe even less. Their goal is simple, bag as many clients as possible by undercutting the competition.

3.Handling With Price Negotiations:

As a freelancer, you are your own boss, and you control the rates at which you offer your services to clients. But there are many new writers that are still in the procedure of getting a grip on their writing skills, willing to work for some meager prices, ultimately undervaluing their self-worth.

4. Delayed Payments And Sometimes No Payment At All:

Late paying clients can sometimes be just as frustrating as overbearing and low-paying ones. You put in the hours, the effort, deliver your content within the given deadline. But, The due date is gone, and the client hasn’t released the payment yet. And all you can do now is follow up after follow-up. Sometimes it happens due to mismanagement from the client’s end. Sometimes the client just lacks the funding to make the payment or simply doesn’t want to pay.

5. The uncertainty regarding the work:

Yes, that happens. Like the ups and downs in life, your freelancing career will also go through days where you’ll find yourself loaded with projects to the fringe, and on some days, there will simply be no work at all.

This is one of the most common problems faced by new freelance content writers when they fail to market themselves effectively.

Conclusive thoughts:

Freelance content writers have to face challenges almost on every step of the way, right from finding work to getting paid. And I jotted down this piece just to give you a glance of few of those hurdles.

If you’re easily scared away by these problems, don’t be. There are several ways to get rid of all of these challenges, which I highlighted in this article. But, the key is “ be patient and consistent and welcome the challenges”.
